Remote Online Notarization.

RON is the process of notarizing a document remotely using electronic signature, identity verification, audio-visual communication and electronic notarial journal and record keeping technologies.

Remote online notarization (RON) allows documents to be notarized in electronic form with the signer signing with an electronic signature and appearing before a commissioned notary online via audio visual technology. This allows anyone with an internet connection to get documents signed and notarized online.

Instead of meeting in a physical location to sign a paper document, the notary public and the signer can conduct a notarial act on their devices from wherever they happen to be located, if their state laws permit.

A remote online notary is a Notary who performs notarizations using audio-visual technology over the internet instead of being physically present with the signer.

Depending on the state laws, a remote online notary may notarize documents for signers located anywhere in or outside of the US if the Notary is physically located in their commissioning state during the notarial act.

What are the benefits of using RON?

RON offers numerous benefits over in-person notarization.

With RON, signers can remotely sign and notarize agreements without gathering in the same physical location as the notary public.

RON also makes notarization more accessible to people who lack the time or ability to travel to meet with a notary public.

RON takes identification authentication even further than in-person notarization by using established identity proofing technologies, including:
